KONO and the Oakland & East Bay Korean American Association once again hosted the Korean Culture Fest at September’s Oakland First Fridays.
From a special stage spanning Telegraph at 27th, KTVU’s Sharon Song the evening opened with speeches by KONO Board President Joseph Jung, Sun Kwong Sze from the Oakland Mayor’s Office, Korean Consol General Joon-Yong Park, State Assembly members Steven Choi, David Chiu and Kansen Chu, Mindy Landmark of Sutter Health and Jenny Kwak, president of the Korean American Association of San Francisco.
That was followed by performances from UC Berkeley’s EGO, 9-year-old Ian Kim, The Ilhyun Kim Dance Academy, a Taekwondo Demonstration, the Korean Cultral Center Urisawe (KCCU) and Hieojung Jo playing the geomungo.
A splendid time was had by all, and we look forward to doing it again next year!
