This last event was an unforgettable evening overflowing with community spirit, vibrant energy, and a deep sense of unity. The festivities kicked off with the Dope Era Whips Car Club’s "Trick-Or-Treat in ChevyLand," where families were treated to free costumes, goodie bags, games, and music, all while admiring an incredible display of classic cars. Adding to the sense of connection, we debuted our Pinktober Bra Wall—a heartfelt tribute to survivors, paired with engaging games and trivia challenges. Meanwhile, Betti Ono’s BLACK TULIP Cultural Week of Action brought healing kits, altars, and love letters to honor Black women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals, deepening the event’s sense of purpose. The energy kept rising with Turf Inc.'s electrifying dance performance, captivating the crowd with their skill and passion. Creativity took center stage at the Art Wall, where festivalgoers left their mark on a vibrant canvas of self-expression. Mario B’s exclusive fashion show followed, wowing attendees with stunning designs and sophisticated style. The evening wrapped up with the energizing rhythms of the Soul Beatz Community Drum Circle, uniting everyone in a joyful musical experience that left the crowd feeling uplifted and connected.
Our main stage proudly presented an electrifying lineup of performers, featuring the dynamic talents of Danny Ali, Tae Smith, Black Spirit, Jamel Griot, and Shoddy Bo. Each artist brought their own unique style, captivating the crowd with powerful performances that showcased the rich creativity and artistry thriving in Oakland. A highlight of the evening was Nichelle Washington’s stunning hair show, "Your Secret is Safe With Us," which focused on non-surgical hair units for women experiencing permanent hair loss due to cancer and other health-related conditions, shedding light on the often-overlooked challenges of hair loss and emotional recovery while offering beautiful alternatives that help restore self-confidence. The night also featured the presentation of the Outstanding Citizenship Award, which went to The LooveMoore Show in recognition of his unwavering commitment to spreading love and positivity throughout the community, making it a truly special and memorable occasion for all.
