You will be creating 3 pieces of writing:
This is a 3-7 description of you and your art.
This short and (if possible) memorable description is something you would use in an Instagram bio.
It should give the reader a taste of who you are and what you do.
Examples:
"Oakland Based Artist"
"Fiber Artist & Figurative Painter"
"Brightly colored landscapes"
"Super power: freezing time”
This is a detailed summary about you, and should include a description of your art, your background, and any achievements.
It must be about 150 words (don't go over 150, but try to get as close as possible to that number).
It must be written in third person.
Example:
Instead of "I am an Oakland-based visual artist. I primarily work in..."
It should be "Joanne Ludwig is an Oakland-based visual artist. She primarily works in..."
We recommend following this structure for your bio:
Here is an example of a well-written artist bio:
Jerrell Gibbs
This is a casual version of your Artist Bio, where you show your art to viewers. You can use some of the same content here.
It must be less than 1 minute long, when read aloud.
It must be written in first person.
Example:
"I am an Oakland-based visual artist. I primarily work in..."
It must have a casual tone - this is you talking to people conversationally.
This will be used in the video you make in this program, where you talk about your art, your background, and show pieces of your work. There are no strict requirements: just make sure to introduce yourself, talk about your art and background, and keep it short and interesting.
Keep the text length to under 1 minute. Once you film it with footage showing your work, the final video may be longer.
